We were walking the coast path and stayed here a night. We had a personal greeting from the owners, tea, biscuits and coffee on our balcony with panoramic views over the sea and harbour. Comfy quiet rooms, seating area with games downstairs, perfect nights sleep and an excellent breakfast cooked early for us so we could start our walk early as it was hot! Highly recommend staying here!

We had a great Aug bank holiday weekend staying at Riverside Cottage. Situated right in the centre of Lynmouth it was the perfect place to explore everything Lynmouth and Lynton had to offer, or for walk further afield along the South West coast path. The room we stayed in overlooked the river and we loved being able to sit out on the balcony watching the world go by, it was also fantastic to be able to open the curtains in the morning and have the river and sea right in front of us.And, of course no review would be complete without mentioning the delicious breakfast which really sets you up for the day.Well recommended, we’d happily return and recommend to friends and family.

Our room was clean, spacious, well equipped and views from the balcony were fantastic. The location was brilliant, in the centre of everything. The breakfast options were more than enough and tasted great. The owner was friendly and amusing. What more could you ask for?

We had a lovely few days in Riverside Cottage, the room was very clean and the bed was comfortable Everything very well thought out with regard to hanging space, mirrors, tea tray etc and the view from our balcony stunning. As others have said the bathroom needs updating since there was a crack in our sink and lots of chipped paint on the side of the bath. We also found it difficult to get the right temperature in the shower using bath mixer taps.Breakfast was excellent and nothing was too much trouble for the very efficient and friendly landlady

We visit Lynmouth as often as possible and our first stay at Riverside Cottage was around 6 yrs ago. It's our 'go to' accomodation as perfect in every way.Everyone is welcoming, its spotlessly clean, the rooms/beds a good size with amazing views from the balconies. Even when the weather is against us, the balcony areaoutside is a great place to sit and relax. And to top it all....the breakfast is fab and a good start to the day.Thank you once again for an amazing stay and what ever you do, don't change the coffee blend (0:

I stayed for 2 nights in the twin room with my adult daughter, and we could not have had a better stay. The weather was foul, almost constant rain, but the balcony was wide enough to sit out without getting wet. Room was clean and well furnished, and the breakfasts were amazing! We had intended a walking holiday, which was abandoned because of the weather, but we nevertheless had a very enjoyable weekend.

I would totally recommend that you stay at this venue. The owners are full of local knowledge. Very clean and comfortable throughout. The location is unbelievable. So often you see ‘close to local amenities’ only to find a long walk up a steep hill for example. This property is literally in the heart of Lynmouth. Thebreakfast was very nice, with so much choice.

Well, what can I say,We were welcomed into the cottage by Mandy, she advised us about car parking spaces and where to get a permit for the days we were there. She also told us about the open top buses and the deals they had. Next morning we met Debbie, loved her, she was also welcoming, there was a choice of varied breakfasts, I was surprised as it’s normally the bigger hotels that offer these choices. It was unfortunate that we left early but I would definitely recommend this place for the scenery, breakfasts and the hosts, Debbie & Dan.

We stayed here from Sunday 19th March for 3 nights, we so wish we had booked it for longer. Dan was so polite, helpful and very friendly. It really was like staying with a friend. As soon as we arrived he had a big smile and offered to take our bags up for us, we were on the top floor (room 9) a lovely room. The view from the balcony of the East Lyn river going to the sea was spectacular. We could have stayed on the balcony watching the changes in the tide and the river with it's lovely sounds all day long. The breakfast was first class, you have to try Dan's poached eggs - simply the best! The rest of the offerings for breakfast were amazing, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals, muesli. They had thought of everything. My partner had the Full English every day, just superb! We had a lovely time staying here and we will definitely be coming back to see Dan.

My husband and I booked the riverside cottage for our wedding anniversary. W brought out 2 terriers along with us.Our room was clean, spacious with lovely homely touches and the view from our balcony was something else (in fact we spent more time on our balcony than we did in our room). The location on then BB was perfect. Wonderful views, and less than a minute walk to the beach, harbour, pub and shops. The service was wonderful. A friendly warm welcome at breakfast in each morning. The breakfast options was fab with a great variety (and the best cooked breakfast). We really liked the little mini fridge in the reception which allowed us to take an array of drinks up to our room (with additional charges for the drinks). In all we had the most perfect stay here, so much so that we made a second booking just before check out. I honestly couldn’t recommend this BB enough for anyone that wants a peaceful, quaint and homely place to stay with fabulous views on Lynmouth.Thank you for a lovely stay, we can’t wait to come back.

We stayed on the top floor and the views were magnificent with some stunning sunsets to be seen from the balcony. The hotel has no car park and it is a case of playing musical cars to avoid the charges on the street however that still wouldn’t deter us from going back as there are pay and display ones to leave them in. The room was nice with one of the most comfortable beds and duvets I have slept in! All in all a very pleasant stay and would definitely go back.

The room was described as a budget, back facing room, but we were more than happy with the facilities and room. The breakfast was also included & very nicely presented and importantly hot, a must for us Chefs! We work hard in the trade and don't get much time for ourselves, so when we do take a break, we must relax & we did. The hosts were very welcoming and did give that personal touch. What can we say that hasn't been said by everyone else? We have visited Lynmouth on a number of occasions, have admired Riverview, but have never stayed there....until now. I received good communication from Debbie, when I asked a number of questions about the room (Room 3). We needed to be on the first floor, because we don't climb stairs very well and she made sure by telling me how many stairs and what the room was like. This is a small hotel, with stairs, so please do not expect a lift. When we arrived Dan whisked our bags up the stairs to the room with no hesitation, which was wonderful! Everything was spotlessly clean in the room and the balcony overlooking the river and sea was fantastic. Lovely big bathroom, with a bath and a very comfortable bed. Breakfast the following morning, beautifully cooked by Dan, was very well received by all the guests. Plenty to set you up for the day ahead. You can ask Debbie and Dan anything, they are very happy to help. We had a wonderful stay and wished it had been longer. We will be back!

Lovely venue with great hosts. Breakfast delicious. Room clean, lovely shower and wonderful views. Central location. Only downside were the thin walls as the room next door liked watching late night TV quite loudly.

I have stayed in Lynmouth before and visited the area over many years, but had never stayed at the Riverside Cottage. I had an extremely enjoyable visit, the room was lovely and the view from the balcony was worth every penny. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was fantastic. I would visit again.

Had seen Riverside Cottage before on a previous visit to the area and thought what a superb location.Decided to book for 4 days and we are so pleased we did.Debbie and Dan are great hosts and extremely helpful, whether you need a bottle opener or suggestions on local walks, sightseeing etc.Our room had a beautiful river and sea view so we were able to watch the tides coming in and out from our balcony, very relaxing. The room was clean, spacious and the king size bed very comfortable. The only improvement we suggest would be a larger TV.Breakfasts were freshly cooked and quite frankly perfect, keeping us full for most of the day!! Dining area was very welcoming and comfortable. We would recommend Riverside Cottage for a relaxing stay in a beautiful area.

My husband and I have just returned home from a 3 night stay at Riverside Cottage. This is our 3rd stay and once again didnt disappoint.Riverside is very well presented, spotlessy clean, welcoming and we never tire of the views from the bedroom balcony. Just a perfect location for exploring the area.We started our days with a lovely freshly cooked breakfast (good choice) served by very friendly hosts and staff. We really cannot fault anything and are already planning a stay later in the year.

We frequently visited Lynmouth and decided to book two nights at the Riverside. We have always admired it’s location and especially the balconies with each room. We were particularly impressed with the standard of the recent refurbishment of the rooms along with the fact that tea and coffee facilities were provided. The breakfast was most impressive.we shall definitely return.and catered for all tastes

My go to accommodation. I’m a frequent visitor to Lynmouth and always look to see if their is availability at Riverside Cottage. Perfect location and able to view river and seafront from a very well presented room with a stylish balcony. Dog friendly 1 night stay with a superb breakfast and an honesty bar that could put the pubs out of business!

Fantastic location, smooth check in, room was clean and fresh. Very friendly and approachable couple, lots of fresh fruit available at breakfast, and I would recommend the poached eggs, delicious!Ideal for walkers and good choice of places to eat in the evening considering lynmouth is a small town. And one more small but important point, there was plenty of milk sachets, did not need to keep asking for more.

Although the bedrooms could have done with some sound proofing we had a lovely stay at the Riverside. The view from the balcony was superb, a great place to watch the world go by. The breakfast was excellent, sausage and bacon to die for. The waitress was a great tour guide full of ideas on what to do. We would stay again. Ty

This has to be one of the best breaks I have spent in a long time. We arrived after the M4 was closed making us three and a half hours late for check-in. No trouble at all and we were even offered a sandwich if we were hungry. The room was modern and bed comfy. The view at the front of the hotel was amazing and we went to sleep listening to the river and sea. The breakfast was perfect and very tasty. Overall we will be going back and I can't recommend the hotel enough.

The B&B is well located in the middle of village with possibly the best views you will have in Lynmouth. The place is clean and well run with a lovely breakfast and an equally lovely hostess serving the breakfast. As I said before outstanding views from the personal room balcony so you can sit there in the evening with a drink and watch the sun set, the tide come in and the ducks roost. The room was clean and tidy but a little cramped. No where to sit in the room other than the bed and it is really small with an 18 inch wide wardrobe the only storage so we lived out of our suitcases. There is a TV but it is tiny and fixed far too high to view as no seating and the room is so small. Be better to ditch the wall mirror and fit a TV to the wall although in fairness we never missed TV during our stay as a smart phone is fine. WiFi a bit week on higher floors.Plenty to do in Lynmouth for a couple of days. The only real drawback is the parking on street opposite the hotel yiu can only park after 6 in the evening so you have to move your car at 10am from the street and fund a public car park. We went in September and it was at times hard to find a space. So a nice place to stay with great views but troublesome parking.

Just returned from a fantastic 5 days at Riverside Cottage. Accommodation exactly as we hoped with a comfortable room and our very own private balcony, from where we could sip tea and watch the visitors to Lynmouth arrive and depart. This was a walking holiday for us and naturally we required a good nourishing wholesome breakfast and Debbie, was both a brilliant and entertaining host, nothing was too much trouble for her. I dined on poached eggs and porridge washed down with Debbie’s best kept secret her finest coffee beans. All good things must finish and leaving we vowed to return in the not so distant future, so thank you Debbie and Dan for making our stay in Devons wonderful Lynmouth a holiday to cherish and remember xx Rob and Lisa

We have just returned from a week in Lynmouth staying at the Riverside Cottage and were very happy with our stay. The hosts were lovely and breakfast kept us going until dinner time. Let's just say Debs doesn't leave you hungry! Even awkward vegans like me are catered for. Our room was small but cosy and we had a lovely balcony looking out over the river. The bed was extremely comfortable and despite me being a terrible sleeper I had a good few nights. It was very busy when we were there and the parking is tight to say the least but the owners said it wasn't usually that bad and shouldn't put you off staying, you just have to go into ninja mode when returning to the town. The town itself is wonderful and probably the prettiest place we visited in North Devon. We will hopefully return at some point in the future.

We didn’t want to leave! It was exceptional from start to finish. Wonderful welcome with consistent focused customer service.Debbie & Dan went out of their way to cater for our dietary requirements. Thank you both so much! The room was spotless & very relaxing with a really comfortable bed & beautifully decorated. The view of the quick-changing weather fronts coming in on the shore was captivating. Even during the constant downpours, our spirits were not dampened. The balcony was an excellent addition too. Great for taking photos, watching the sea or painting. Our little dog was very relaxed there too. I think he was particularly fond of the moon dogs left in the room’ rule. He came with us everywhere we went. Lynmouth & Lynton allow dogs into almost all establishments. We didn’t find a place that wouldn’t - but I can’t confirm ALL establishments will. We’ll be back & really looking forward to it.

Breakfast was included and we always had the full English, a lovely breakfast.I have to say, we felt very safe with the whole COVID pandemic within the B&B. They have everything in place. One piece of advise which we we were given when we arrived and that is to pre book any pub or restaurant for your evening meal. Haven’t been to Devon for over 40 years! So glad we chose Riverside Cottage. The hanging baskets and flowers made the outside very attractive. The room we had, room 9 on second floor was modernised and clean and well cared for. The shower was fab. Easy to use and lots of hot water. The view from the rooms is what makes this B&B. Sitting out was pure joy. Also the cooked breakfast was great in the uncertain times. Plenty of hand sanitizer. The hotel has easy access to all that Lynmouth has to offer. I had a four night stay in this delightful B & B and could not have been happier. Dan and his mum were polite, friendly and always happy to help. My room was good with a very comfy bed and pillows that I could sink into after a day of sightseeing. The views from the balcony were amazing, especially sunrise over the sea and river. The room was clean, with lovely en suite and tea, coffee, milk etc replenished every day. As an avid tea drinker I was pleased to note cups were a decent size and plenty of teabags etc were left out (something that many B &B’s seem to skimp on). Breakfast was great and the full English set me up nicely for each day of sight seeing. I highly recommend this lovely B & B. You won’t find a better location in Lynmouth and you won’t be disappointed. I hope to return soon.

The room was spotless and recently nicely decorated. There was some lovely new furniture on our balcony overlooking the river. Our room was quite small with a tiny wardrobe and virtually no drawer space. Walls are thin so we could hear the people (and dogs) in adjacent rooms. Breakfast was fine. Reception staff member was really friendly and helpful. We thought it was slightly overpriced.

Loved sitting outside on the balcony enjoying the late afternoon sun before walking around the impressive town of Lynmouth. Breakfast was extremely well staggered for guests in our current climate and delicious too served in the dining room. Loved the place. There was a very sandy and empty beach to take a dip from further along from the town. The views from up alongside the Funicular railway were stunning.

We stayed at Riverside Cottage with another couple. We were made to feel very welcome and the rooms were nice and comfortable with a great balcony with a view over the river estuary. Breakfast was great and we ate in Que Pasa, the Mexican Restaurant underneath, which is run by the same couple, and we had a brilliant night. The food was amazing and Debbie the host made it a real, fun night - Thank you!

This was our first visit to Riverside Cottage (though not to Lynmouth) and it definitely won't be our last! Lovely, clean, well decorated king size room with stunning balcony views. The icing on the cake was the wonderful Mexican restaurant attached to this B&B. My husband and I enjoyed a very good meal during our stay and also purchased drinks to take back to our room ????. Breakfast was also outstanding and Debbie is a great host!

My hosts at Riverside were extremely welcoming and helpful throughout my stay. The bedroom was warm and comfortable with everything I needed, although the TV was positioned very high on the wall which wasn't theeasiest to view. The shower had excellent water pressure and temperature control but it would have been useful to have a shelf to put shower gel and shampoo on, however the hair drier was also excellent with a convenient socket by the mirror for easy use. Breakfast was cooked to perfection every day which set me up well for a day enjoying the wonderful surrounding walks. The view from the balcony was beautiful, this is certainly somewhere I would recommend to stay, relax and enjoy a holiday.

After the Christmas and New year were over my husband and I fancied a quiet get away. We found this cottage through booking.com and it was just what we were looking for. We were given a free room upgrade which over looked the sea and river the view was perfect. As we weren’t looking for action Lynmouth was perfect lots of walks during the day and a couple of cosy pubs at night. The staff,Debbie and Dan,were very welcoming and the Mexican restaurant run by the couple was fantastic would definitely recommend. We had a super stay and will definitely return.

My partner and I stayed at Riverside Cottage for two nights between Christmas and New Year. If only it could have been longer! These were a few of the great things about Riverside Cottage: The view from the balcony was amazing; the ladies who looked after us (Debbie and Mandy, I think) were so lovely and helpful; they catered perfectly for awkward vegans like us, even leaving vegan treats in our room; breakfast was just right; nice comfy bed with cosy embroidered bedding, and an incredible location in the heart of lovely Lynmouth, overlooking the river with views to the harbour and the sea. Make sure you book a room with a balcony - with Christmas lights twinkling over the harbour, that balcony is my new favourite place! It was very good value for money too. Thank you :)

A great place to stay. Our room was small (standard double) but access to our privacy balcony made up for it giving us a great view of the river and sea. Lovely. Our bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was more than adequate with a good working shower with soap dish (always useful) and hooks on the door, again useful. We had a good veggie breakfast, perfectly cooked, all served by our lively hostess. Thank you.

This was the 4th year we have stayed here and, as usual, it was a wonderful, relaxing break. The recently refurbished rooms are clean, bright and comfortable. Sitting on the balcony, listening to the river, at the end of the day is the perfect way to unwind. The breakfasts are very good with a good range available and nothing is too much trouble for the owner. They have recently opened as a Mexican restaurant, in the evenings which unfortunate we didn't get to try this year but from what we saw and smelt looked very good. We will definitely be back next year.

Just returned from our third stay in four years at the Riverside Cottage. This is where we stayed for our mini-moon, and we love it so much we came to stay for our one year anniversary too!The lovely service we receive from the Riverside Cottage is second to none. We always made to feel welcome and no ask too great. We take our dog every year, and he's just as welcome as us!This year we stayed in the same room as last year - room 7, a sea view room with balcony. The room has been refurbished in the last year and is a really lovely finish. Far beyond what I'd expect from a dog friendly B&B. The location is amazing, and I could spend days just sitting on the balcony watching the world go by, listening to the river.I recommend this place to anyone staying in North Devon

Can't think of a better location of anywhere we've ever stayed before, it's idyllic. The bonus was that we were really well looked after, breakfast was excellent, plus the breakfast room transformed into a Mexican restaurant in the evening which was also very good. The only thing stopping a perfect review was that our room, although perfectly adequate, was a bit of a snug fit, although I believe some of the other rooms were larger. Overall though, a great place to stay.

The Riverside Cottage is in a great location and you can easily walk to all the local attractions. Also there are 3 pubs within 1 or 2 mins and the Railway up to Lynton is a 3-4 min walk. Parking is easy, either out in the street or in one of the car parks (where the tickets you buy are valid in all the local car parks - for example the Valley of the Rocks). The Breakfast was very tasty and the room was quiet. About the only point for improvement would be the décor could be a bit more modern and the beds bigger (but I am a big man!). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay

Excellent location, lovely comfortable room, beautiful view and fabulous breakfast.Couldn't fault it. Oh and the sun was shining!! Only downside, which doesn't effect my rating, but could be a problem in height of season is the parking as there is no designated parking at the property. This however would not stop us staying there again.

My 90 year old mum and I spent a memorable week at Riverside Cottage which provided excellent value accommodation, food and hospitality for the cost of B & B.Even though the weather was mixed we found lots of places to visit and on the one day of significant rain and wind we had a great day enjoying a super lunch ad a cream tea at riverside and a visit to Lynton's Cinema.Debbie and Dan who manage Riverside were so helpful and we are extremely grateful to them for making our holiday so enjoyable.

We only stayed one night but it was comfortable and clean. Rooms aren't huge but plenty if you're travelling light. The bathroom was clean and water was high pressure and hot. Telly in the room and some tea and coffee. Balcony to look out over the green and sea.The breakfast was great and plenty of the usual to choose from. Very yummy.Obviously this is an old building and walls are thin. So if you're having an early night don't forget not everyone else is. Some people forget there are other guests or don't realise how much noise they are making when they come in from the pub. If you're tired enough then you'll sleep through it.But that been said my neighbours weren't to bad. Agreat nights stay. The landlady who welcomes you is smashing and works very hard through out the day.I'm a regular visitor to the village up and down and Riverside is great for it's pet friendliness. Brilliant. I will stay again.

We stayed at the Riverside Cottage in one of their medium sized rooms for 3 nights with a large (dalmatian) dog. Staff were lovely and very chatty, with lots of local advice if you needed it. Breakfast was great and we were accommodated for well. I'd recommend staying in one of the sea facing balcony rooms as we became quite accustomed to spending the late afternoon with our feet up after a long walk! My only slight niggle would be for a fridge in the room, just to have access to cool drinks when the cafe downstairs was closed, but other than that it was a great stay.We were made to feel at home and I would definitely stay again.

Well-run with a friendly welcome , well-appointed rooms, super breakfast - and very understanding with delayed check-out no problem whilst awaiting news from garage on the car ( now sadly deceased ! ). Many thanks Debbie....Ian C

Fantastic location with balconies overlooking the river andwe could also lie in watching the waves breaking over the harbour wall. Hearty breakfasts. Very friendly hosts: Debbie went out of her way to search for the 'Out of Hours Duty Doctor' contact details at 10.30 pm. Lynmouth is a delightful place, mini golf on the Green/cream teas/ funicular railway/walks to Watersmeet seemed to be popular choices with fellow guests. Little gem of a B and B and Lynmouth isa little gem too.

Always a pleasure staying with Debbie in Riverside cottage. Beautiful view over lynmouth from the room with balcony. Spotlessly clean, personal service and an informal and friendly atmosphere. Breakfast served the way each of us prefer, and nothing is too much trouble.

Amazing views from great room balcony, great breakfast and staff and good room. Unfortunately due to stud walls on both sides could hear TV, radio and people talking in rooms either side, would suggest some sound proofing as otherwise it would have been perfect

Karen and I booked in for a long weekend break. We had been to Lynmouth before so had some idea where we were going. Riverside Cottage, for us, is an ideal place to stay. Small but comfy rooms in a perfect village position with lovely, honest and friendly staff for whom nothing is too much trouble. The breakfast is really nice. I tend to like my sausages and thankfully those served were really nice ones. If we had a potential negative it is the bedroom tvis very small and high up. However if like us you only really have the to on for the news, it's not a major issue. While we were there there was a bit of a housekeeping hiccup. The staff were excellent. No panic or bluster. Just good spirited efficiency.Would we return. You bet we would. Loved itMark & Karen

It was our 25th Wedding Anniversary and I booked the Riverside Cottage for the weekend as a surprise for my hubby. The view, with our own private balcony had a lot to do with our stay at Riverside, the bathroom was very clean with lovely white soft towels, very comfortable bed and well stocked hostess tray, from toasting our anniversary with a bottle of Champagne to coffee in the morning, our private balcony was fab, the weather was warm and sunny, the breakfast was plentiful and very nice, the only drawback was the Wifi, it was not very good

Spend a wonderful weekend.Riverside was in an excellent position with lovey views. The breakfast was one of the best we have had with plenty of choice, the only downside was that it was served between 8 and 9 - a bit early, would have preferred 8 - 10.Would highly recommend staying here.If I had to pick a fault (and I am being picky here) our room was the middle room on the top floor. Riverside only had 2 and for one night 3 rooms booked. All the rooms were open and unlocked so we were able to view them.I would suggest that you ask for the side rooms as they seemed a lot bigger.our room was very small and cramped (not sure why we were given a small room when the two adjacent rooms were empty and much bigger). Anyway, it is a lovey place and would thoroughly recommend staying here, hence the high score. Will say again. Thanks very much.

Riverside cottage B and B is in the centre of Lynmouth beside the river and with sea views. We had room 8 on the top floor so the views were even more extensive. There is a nice balcony over looking the river. We received a warm welcome from Debbie and Dan despite arriving with a rather wet dog as we had just walked in the rain from Simonsbath. The room was quite small but clean and comfortable with an adequate bathroom. Plenty of hot water.Breakfast is served in the cafe which is part of this business. Debbie serves with a relaxed ambiance. Good coffee!. The buffet is good and the cooked food was very good. Vegetarian sausages were great. There is no doubt that you are paying a premium for the position of this B and B but enjoy it. It is quite unique. The WiFi worksDebbie and Dan work really hard and deserve success.

Perfect location on the riverfront in Lynmouth, short stroll to pubs and eateries.Room was described as a "medium double", however it was really quite small, especially with a dog. Perfectly adequate for a night or two though, and the balcony gave some extra space. Spotlessly clean.Whilst it was lovely to be able to sit out on the balcony and enjoy the sunshine, it was spoiled somewhat by the cigarette smoke wafting over from balconies adjacent and below.Owners are extremely pleasant and obliging, and serve a delicious cooked breakfast in the morning.Would definately stay again, as was great to be able to take the dog, but if staying longer would probably book a larger room.

We stayed here for a night on the way to Cornwall. Lynmouth is a stunning place, especially on a sunny day in early May, with its dramatic, steeply wooded hillsides and almost vertical railway climb. Riverside Cottage is central to this and a room with a balcony means you can enjoy the sunshine and wonderful views out to sea. Debbie is welcoming and our room was clean and comfortable with lovely old pine furniture. Breakfast has good choice options and the toast is made with quality bread, not supermarket sliced, and is crisp! We enjoyed our stay very much.

We stayed during a wild and windy weekend at the end of January. It was great to find that there was free parking over the road until the summer season kicked in at Easter. So unloading the car and 2 Jack Russells to our room was a doddle. We could not have been made to feel more welcome by the hosts. We opted for a balcony room with a beautiful river view. We were warm and cosy throughout a chilly weekend having dined well at the nearby Rising Sun and Village Inn, in addition to the 2 excellent breakfasts that we had at the Riverside.

Stayed at Riverside Cottage for 2 nights arriving on a Friday afternoon. Debbie was out of town when we arrived so she left our key with a nearby local pub (The Village Inn) where we received a warm welcome. Went to Riverside (after a drink of course!) to find a lovely, clean, spacious, nicely decorated room with a private balcony offering a lovely view of the river and harbour. Our bed was very comfortable and the breakfast (served in the cafe downstairs was fantastic.Debbie was very friendly and helpful and we would definitely stay at Riverside again in future.

This was our fourth trip to "Riverside" & as always an excellent time was had. Debbie is amassing always cheerful & made the stay for my 93 year old Mum perfect, great food. Ourbalcony rooms were ideal as Mum spent many hours watching Lynmouth life unfold each day. I myself (son)would strongly recommend here even if I was staying here just me. Will miss Debbie's "Humming the odd songs" as she zooms about the place :)

I was on the 2nd floor, room 7. A fantastic view from the balcony of the whole bay. The room was very comfortable, tea, coffee facilities which were replenished daily (enough for me)A very good choice of breakfast. If I had to find fault, there was no iron, but it didn't spoil my stay.Would I stay again, yes without a doubt!

Riverside cottage is in a prime location in lynmouth overlooking the river and harbour. Its not the most modern of places but is fully in keeping with its surroundings. The rooms were clean and fresh and had everything you would need.we sat out on our little balcony with a bottle of wine and watched the world go by.there were several places to get an evening meal and in the morning we sat in bed and watched the sea crash over the harbour wall.Breakfast was served downstairs in their cafe which was superb.Tip..aim to arrive just past 4pm and you can park outside on the street until midday with no payment.would we stay here again - yes.

We enjoyed our stay at riverside cottage, the balcony was lovely to relax on and watch the world go by, and the view is beautiful, our host was lovely, nothing was too much trouble, my only negative comment would be that the rooms look a bit tired and in need of a complete make over inc. the bathrooms.

This guest house has in my opinion got the best position in lynmouth. We had room 9, a large double on the top floor. Lovely views over the harbour & river. Debbie, the lady who runs the guest house was very accommodating, letting us have breakfast late on 2 mornings. Coffee was superb. Breakfast also good. Room very clean. Phone signal is appalling all over lynmouth but wifi is free!! The guest house looks 'lived in' & could do with some updating in parts but overall for the price with the wonderful views, is excellent value.

We really enjoyed our stay at Riverside Cottage. It's conveniently located in the centre of Lynmouth right (as the name suggests!) on the river. We had one of the back rooms (without the sea view) but this was fine for us as we were hardly in the room as we were too busy exploring the town. The room was clean and comfy with good facilities. The cooked breakfast in the morning was great! We were given friendly advice about options where to eat/go for a drink and some walking routes. Great service and good value.

Always wanted to visit lynmouth, stayed 2 nights, wow!! Just as promised, fantastic views of the river, harbour and town. Room was very clean, good size, not huge, but enough space, and warm. Great to have the balcony, must be fabulous in summer. We stayed in January, with all the very high tides. Breakfast was excellent, big and hearty. The owners, giles and Debbie, were great, even after their cafe/ breakfast room was slightly flooded. After a quick clear up, breakfast was served. Me and the wife will def stay here again, great welcome, good food, room, and great value for money. The railway up to Lyndon was out for maintenance, so will do it next time. Do not be afraid to book the riverside, you won't be disappointed. 5 food score's on the door. If you like scenery, pubs, walking or just relaxing, book now. Many thanks, see you again. Soon.

The room was small but perfectly adequate for the purpose of our stay which was to get out and about as much as possible. It had a balcony from which to gaze at the beautiful view of river and sea. What a lovely place to spend a week in July. Lynmouth is relaxing and beautiful, as was the stay at the Riverside Cottage. It is possibly the nicest and most converted place to stay in the location. The hosts/owners have a relaxed cheerfulness that adds to the "being amongst friends" vibe that the B&B creates. The rooms were very clean and well decorated with a wonderful balcony were we spent a fair amount of time relaxing with a coffee and a read before going out for the night or at the end of an evening. The views from the balcony are excellent, overlooking the river and the harbour with a good view of the main front of LynmouthBreakfast, which was in the Cafe overlooking the shops opposite, was a good start to the morning, offering cereal, fruit juices and of course the full English(and various permutations of).I can most definitely recommend the Riverside Cottage as a place to stay

Riverside Cottage offers the most beautiful setting with stunning views from the verandah. The room was absolutely spotless, decoration and bedlinen of a high standard - the shower the best we've had in a hotel, the cooked breakfast excellent with local produce, freshly cooked. A great stay we will be recommending you to others without reservation. Thank you.

It was a good stay. The place is nice and the B & B is tidy, clean and the owners are really nice. The breakfast is ok. I would suggest that the vegetable english breakfast should have another things, is quite similiar to the normal english breakfast.Aswell in the morning the croissants are not from the same day. I would suggest to heat them up because is a good action to put the croissant but you should explain it or take action about that.

Giles and Debbie have only been at Riverside for about a year but are already making their mark on it. We know that there are many more things that they would like to do , especially as Debbie has a design background, but as it is the Riverside is still a comfotable, welcoming place. The rooms are spotlessly clean, with a lovely view of the river and the harbour and Debbie's cooked breakfast is delicious and was substantial enough to last us through each day. Only fresh local produce is used where they can.We would deffinately stay again.

Friendly greeting with useful information provided by owner. Budget room was basic, clean and with very compact sanitary facilities. If returning would choose a room upgrade to give sea view

Absolutely stunning views from our balcony and a comfortable clean room and ensuite. Breakfast was good and having it in the cafe made it feel less like invading someone's home, which can sometimes feel a bit awkward in a B&B. Very friendly owners focused on providing a good level of service.

A wonderful place to stay, spotlessly clean, good food and hospitality second to none. We can't wait to come back for a long weekend, preferably when the rain isn't lashing sideways and we can sit on the balcony!

One would be hard pressed to find better value for money for a hotel room in a pretty seaside village with balcony and great views over the river and out to sea. Our room was spotless, the breakfast excellent and the coast and Exmoor countryside around Lynmouth is wonderful for walking and touring.

This establishment is well run , clean , tidy and breakfast is brilliant . The only problem we found was that whoever constructed the rooms must have used realy cheap materials for the dividing stud walls . There is no sound proofing at all . We were lucky because our fellow guests were as quiet as us , but if you had someone that was a bit noisy you'd have problems .

Hi Giles and DebWe enjoyed our stay with you and our room was large, clean and had a lovely view from the balcony. We were a little disappointed that our room was not serviced on the Monday when we were out most of the day and did not have tea and coffee to come back to.The mattress also had a slope on the window side and probably needs replacing. Please take this as constructive criticismas you have a lovely place in a wonderful location and we would visit again. Many thanks Mark and Jo

We stayed for our wedding anniversary and had a great time, room was very comfortable and clean, breakfast was great, the home made scones and cream tea are outstanding, there's no phone signal and most of all our hosts Debbie and Giles were lovely people, very welcoming and warm. The view from our room was stunning and the locals were very friendly.Thank you for making us so welcome and hopefully see you again soon.Mike and Mandy

We stayed in March and had a lovely time. The owners were very friendly, we were made to feel really welcome. The little cafe was lovely. Breakfast each morning filled us up until dinner and was really enjoyable. I would also recommend trying the cafe during the day as the food and beverages are really good.We also stayed with our dog, who was made to feel just as welcome as we were. The rooms were comfortable and clean and we had a lovely view.I would thoroughly recommend this as a place to stay and would love to come back in the future. Many Thanks for a relaxing stay at Riverside Cottage

This was our 4th stay at Riverside and each time we have been made very welcome. The owners are friendly and helpful, our room was clean, warm and comfortable. Breakfast was a delight to eat and sets you up for a day’s exploring in North Devon. On leaving after our 4 nights stay we have once again booked a week for next year, I can’t recommend any higher than that.

We had such a great time at the Riverside Cottage hotel. It looks out on the river and the sea, and we spent a lot of time on the balcony, simply admiring the view. The river rose 2 feet during our stay, and there were surfers in the sea, catching the waves. Our room was warm and comfortable, and our hosts Giles and Debbie were so pleasant, friendly and easy going. Great breakfasts too, we definitely plan to return. Lynmouth is unspoilt with wonderful walks nearby, plus some nice restaurants within a few minutes walk, we did not need the car!

Lovely location and all the facilities we needed. The noise from the river was slightly distracting at night, as was the street light, but was more to do with the weather for our stay. Our hosts were very accommodating and even delayed going out on our day of arrival until we were booked in.
